The In-Class Support Specialist will play a vital role in enhancing the educational experiences of students in grades 6-12 by providing targeted academic assistance and support in diverse classroom settings. This position is dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment where all students, particularly those with learning challenges, can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide in-class academic support to students across various subjects, including Math, Science, English, Social Studies, and Rabbinics, ensuring individualized attention to meet both mainstream and diverse learning needs.
  • Teach Study Skills classes aimed at developing Executive Functioning skills and equipping students with effective strategies for academic success, including time management, organization, task analysis and initiation, and test-taking strategies.
  • Develop customized study materials and resources to facilitate assessment preparation and reinforce learning outcomes across core subjects.
  • Collaborate closely with mainstream General and Judaic studies teachers to create and implement strategies that support the inclusion of students with learning differences (students who have executive functioning deficit diagnoses) and/or have a specific learning difference diagnosis that may impact learning in the classroom, ensuring equitable access to curriculum and learning opportunities.
  • Monitor student progress and adapt instructional techniques to accommodate varying learning styles and abilities.
  • Participate in team meetings and professional development opportunities to stay informed about best practices in inclusive education and support methodologies.
  • Support the development of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students in their case load, providing insights on student progress and areas for growth.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, encouraging a growth mindset and promoting academic resilience.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience working with middle and high school students, particularly those with diverse learning needs.
  • Strong knowledge of effective teaching strategies and study skills development.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, staff, and families.
  • Ability to adapt instructional materials and techniques to meet individual student needs.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
